Hey Dr. Bret!  Do you remember that first meeting when I told you that I was afraid I
would have to starve to lose weight.  Well, with 45 pounds off now, I can say that I
have not been hungry one day.  With the cheat day once per week, I know I can have
anything I want and that really helps.  That is a great approach and I hope you use that
with most everybody.

Wow!  I just came home and explained your liver diagram to my wife.  We sat down and
I drew it out just like you had it displayed on your computer.  When I showed it to my
wife she said that for once she understands how and why we get fat on our bodies.  And
more importantly now she and I understand what to do to get it off, and to keep it from
being re-deposited in future meals!  You can't keep this great information to yourself -
you need to write a book.  I know you are really busy, but this information could help
millions of people!

Dear Dr. Emery,
I know you don't know me, but I am the wife of your client Charles.  I am taking the
time to write to you to thank you for giving me my husband back.  For years I have
been watching him gain weight and become less energetic and less active.  While he has
climbed the corporate ladder and provided a nice life for us, his health has been
neglected.  I don't know what you did or said in those four visits, but now he is the man
I married again!  He is jogging each morning before work, and he stopped eating ice
cream every night.  I know that he has a bit more weight to lose, but I am confident

Hey Doc,
I am just checking in as promised.  I wanted to let you know that I won regionals, and
am confident that I will also take the state title.  I have not had any more cramps during
my training runs, or in the races.  I really appreciate all the time you spent to diagnose
my dehydration.  Your Physio-Graph is really a great tool.  I had no idea I was losing so
much fluid during each run.  I will stay in touch as I continue toward NATIONALS!  I
wouldn't be here without you!  You're the best!

Dear Bret,
Well, here they are.  I am attaching my before and after photos that I was telling you
about.  I can't believe that I ever looked like that.  I really appreciate your suggestion
that I take a photo in the beginning.  It was so difficult for me to do, but it really did
open my eyes to how far I had let myself go.  Now, when I see where I was, and how
far I have come it makes me want to tell everyone that they can do it!  The nutrition and
exercise approach you taught me has really become my lifestyle.  If I can do it, then so
can every other person who wants to make a change and lose weight.  Thank you for all
your encouragement and support!  It has really meant a lot.

Hi Dr. Bret,
When you told me that I needed to eat more in order to lose weight I was taken aback.  
But when you took the time to describe how my metabolism was slow due to my
infrequent food intake, I began to understand that I was defeating myself by not eating.  
Then when you laid out my daily routine on the computer and showed me what to eat
and when to eat it, all I had to do was follow through.  Now 23 pounds lighter - and
eating more - I think you were right!  And thank you for helping my sister.  She is off to
a great start.

Hello From South Beach!
I couldn't wait till our next appointment to tell you how good it felt to be on the beach
today.  I was proud to be there with just my swim trunks on.  I used to look around the
beach and be envious of all the fit and trim bodies, but today I
was one of those

It has been 3 years now since you designed my nutrition and exercise program.  My how
time has flown.  I have maintained my weight loss.  I will go up a few pounds while on
vacation, or during the holidays, but I go right back to the principles you taught me and
the weight comes back off.  My husband and I call it the "EMERY way".  He will say to
me, "is that the EMERY way?" when I am preparing meals or ordering out.  I had to
laugh when they started banning trans fats in restaurants because you taught me the
dangers years ago.  You are ahead of your time.  Thanks for staying in touch.  That is
really nice.

Although you do not know me,  I wanted to thank you for your help in my losing
weight.  I found out about your program through my dad, Frank, and a friend, Greg,
who clearly benefited from your plan, or as is so often referred to… “the lifestyle”.   I
began following the eating and exercise plan on June 1st and by the end of August I
had dropped 40 pounds, from about 205 to 165.  I couldn't have done it without having
